“Volunteering with the Change Management Institute has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. I first joined with the intention of creating a safe space for those working in the not‑for‑profit sector, and to build a community for sole change practitioners who often navigate transformation on their own. What I didn’t expect was the incredible support I received from members across the globe, who stood behind this vision and helped make it a reality.
Through this journey, I’ve gained invaluable insights, strengthened my professional practice, and been inspired by amazing events hosted worldwide. The friendships I’ve made – especially within the NSW Chapter – are truly for life. To be recognised as Volunteer of the Year is deeply meaningful, not only as a celebration of my contribution but as a reflection of the Institute’s commitment to nurturing growth, connection, and impact. Volunteering has allowed me to give back to the profession I love, while learning and growing alongside a community that continues to inspire me every day.”
“Over the last few years, it has been my privilege to volunteer for the Queensland Chapter of the Change Management Institute. We have a common goal: to assist others to thrive by providing access to quality information, innovation, and insights. And I must admit, at times it feels easier to step away. However, the rewards, connections, and personal development I gain while supporting others is worth the effort.
I am truly humbled to be acknowledged by my hard-working and dedicated network of volunteers, whom I am privileged to call friends. The support from my peers and the Institute not only provides great purpose for the practice I love, but it also benefits my lifelong learning journey. I also get to meet and learn from so many gifted, amazing people and build an extraordinary network that spans the globe.”
“Volunteering with the Change Management Institute has been both professionally enriching and personally meaningful. The Canadian Chapter fosters a thoughtful, generous community of practitioners who are committed to advancing the practice of change in a way that is disciplined, human-centred, and values-driven.
Being recognised by this community is deeply meaningful, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute, learn, and grow alongside such dedicated change leaders.”
“I joined the Change Management Institute just a year ago and soon became a volunteer to help drive the first round of our CZ&SK mentoring program and attract new members. My goal is to successfully complete the pilot, exchange experiences with other chapters, and lay the foundation for future rounds.
The best reward for me has been the opportunity to network, collaborate, and explore new ways to tackle challenges while promoting the values of the Change Management Institute. Being recognised as Volunteer of the Year is a true honour and motivates me to keep contributing.
I look forward to continuing my journey with the Change Management Institute, meeting inspiring people, and embracing new challenges that help strengthen our change community.”
“A good team is hard to find, and I feel incredibly lucky to have spent two years working with the very best. Volunteering with the Change Management Institute Ireland Chapter has been such a wonderful experience, championing the change profession across Ireland and beyond while making lifelong connections along the way.
Although I’ve now started a new chapter in London, being named Volunteer of the Year for Ireland means so much. The messages shared in support of me were genuinely touching and made me miss my friends dearly. Thank you for the advice, the support, the hard work, and most of all, the great craic we had together.“
“I am honoured to be named one of the Change Management Institute’s Volunteers of the Year for 2025 as part of the Wellington Chapter in New Zealand. Being part of this community is incredibly rewarding, and I truly feel I gain more than I give.
A highlight of the year was our 20th Anniversary celebration, where speakers, without prior coordination, each spoke about the power of connection and what the Institute has meant to them personally. That sense of connection is what stands out most to me. Whether attending a first event or hearing from long-standing leaders, everyone finds validation, shared experience, and common ground.
Our community is empathetic, generous, and willing to share what has helped them navigate change, and that is invaluable. It is a genuine pleasure to give back by volunteering, supporting local events, and contributing to our global community of practice. I look forward to many more shared connections and experiences in 2026 and beyond.”
“It brings me immense joy to know that through the workshops and collaboration I’ve led and worked on, people from all over the world have felt seen, empowered, and connected to a great tribe.
I’m looking forward to creating such unique moments and conversations in 2026, along with the amazing team of Pippa, Laila, and Madalina.”
“Change is ultimately about people. Volunteering with the Change Management Institute has given me the joy of bringing our South Chapter together to connect, learn and share. Seeing ideas spark, confidence grow and members support one another is why I do it. Being named Volunteer of the Year is a real honour – it’s a celebration of the collective impact we make when we build community, add value and give back.”
“Volunteering with the Change Management Institute has been a deeply rewarding experience that has strengthened both my professional practice and my sense of purpose within the change community. Being part of a by-member-for-member organisation has enabled me to build meaningful relationships, share knowledge, and contribute to advancing the change profession.
Through volunteering, I’ve had opportunities to stretch beyond my core role, developing leadership capability, facilitating collaboration, and supporting others through learning and connection. These experiences strongly align with my consultancy approach, where culture, communication, and people-centred change sit at the heart of sustainable outcomes.
Being awarded Volunteer of the Year was a humbling honour. To me, it represents not just individual contribution, but the collective impact of an engaged volunteer community committed to making change better for organisations and people alike.
The Institute has played a significant role in my professional growth since joining in 2023, providing access to diverse perspectives, thought leadership, and a supportive global network. Volunteering has increased my confidence, expanded my capability as a change leader, and positively influenced my career in ways that extend far beyond traditional development routes.”
“Volunteering within the Change Management Institute has been one of the most rewarding parts of my professional journey. It’s provided opportunities to contribute, to learn, and to grow alongside people who care deeply about elevating our discipline. This recognition is truly shared with my fellow US volunteers. I am continually inspired by the dedication, creativity, and heart of the volunteers who show up (often quietly, always wholeheartedly) to build programs, create connection, and strengthen our chapter.
Thank you to the Institute for this honor and to everyone in our community who contributes in ways big and small. I look forward to continuing to actively support the growth of our profession in the years ahead.”
“Wow, I really wasn’t expecting to win Volunteer of the Year. Thank you.
I started volunteering with the Change Management Institute after moving back to Australia in 2021, looking for community and connection with others who understand the nature of change work. As practitioners, we’re often the behind-the-scenes glue, and the work can feel surprisingly solo. Having a space to connect, learn, and stay grounded has meant a great deal to me.
Volunteering has stretched me in new ways. Without titles or formal authority, I’ve learned how to build trust, co-create clarity, and generate momentum through shared purpose. It’s strengthened my empathy, leadership, and appreciation for what it takes to build something sustainable.
I’ve also gained perspectives I wouldn’t have had otherwise, learning from generous peers and leaders around the world. This recognition wasn’t on my bingo card, and honestly, I’ve gained far more than I’ve given. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity, the learning, and the trust along the way.”
