AI and Change: Building the Future of No Work

In today’s fast-evolving digital landscape, AI is shaping the future of work in profound ways, leading to what some are calling the “Future of No Work.” Filip Dřímalka, a digital transformation expert and founder of Digiskills and Digitask, explored the potential of AI to transform businesses, streamline processes, and enhance how individuals approach work. His insights come from his extensive experience in helping large-scale organisations, like Volkswagen, implement AI-driven digital solutions.

Filip opened the discussion by emphasising that AI is not just about technology but also about changing mindsets. He explained that digital transformation requires both organisations and individuals to embrace new ways of working and adopt a growth mindset. This mindset is key to unlocking the potential of AI to make work more creative, efficient, and valuable.

AI and Digital Transformation

His work with companies like Å koda Auto, part of the Volkswagen Group, exemplifies how AI can drive digital transformation on a large scale. For example, his team helped implement Microsoft 365 for 24,000 employees, personalising their digital education through a programme called the Digital Academy. They managed to run 370 training academies simultaneously, all led by one person using AI-powered automation. This project highlights how AI can be integrated into the workplace to streamline processes, allowing companies to achieve more with fewer resources.

This kind of transformation is not limited to large enterprises. Small companies and individuals now have access to the same AI tools as Fortune 500 corporations. This democratisation of technology allows even one-person startups to leverage AI and compete on a level playing field with larger competitors. AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude are widely available and affordable, making it easier than ever to adopt AI in everyday work processes.

Efficiency and Automation

A key takeaway from the webinar was the role of AI in improving efficiency. He shared an example from a Czech bank where AI was used to evaluate customer feedback. The AI analysed the sentiment of responses and automatically generated personalised thank-you notes for positive feedback, while forwarding negative feedback to human operators for further action. Remarkably, this system was built in a single day without requiring any support from the IT department. This example demonstrates how quickly and easily AI can be deployed to improve customer interactions and streamline internal processes.

He also discussed how AI-powered automation can help employees focus on higher-value tasks. For example, in his company, AI is used to automate meeting notes, create presentations, and summarise discussions. By automating these routine tasks, employees can devote more time to strategic thinking and creative work. In one case, AI was used to generate over 600 leads from a single survey, saving countless hours of manual work.

The Future of Work

As AI continues to evolve, its impact on the job market is becoming more pronounced. He described two possible scenarios for the future of work. With AI, a small group of people can leverage automation to handle large-scale projects that would otherwise require a much larger workforce.

Some jobs will inevitably be replaced by AI, like with Klarna, a fintech startup that replaced 700 full-time employees with AI systems. However, the future is unlikely to be dominated by either extreme. Instead, the reality will likely fall somewhere in the middle.

The Importance of Mindset

Success with AI is less about technical skills and more about mindset. Having a digital mindset is more important than mastering specific tools. The real challenge is developing the right attitude towards experimentation and learning. He encouraged participants to adopt a growth mindset, which he described as the willingness to learn, experiment, and embrace change.

In organisations that offer AI tools to their employees, He noted that some people use them frequently – 20 to 30 times a day – while others never touch them. This disparity is not due to a lack of technical skill but rather a difference in mindset. Those who are open to learning and experimenting with AI are more likely to see its benefits and use it to improve their work. As Filip put it, “Mindset is more important than skillset and toolset.”

AI in Practice: Building Digital Employees

In addition to discussing mindset, Filip provided practical examples of how AI can be integrated into daily work. His companies have created “digital employees” that handle repetitive tasks, allowing human employees to focus on more complex and strategic work.

Democratisation of AI Tools

In the past, cutting-edge AI tools were only available to large enterprises with significant budgets. Today, even small businesses and individuals can access the same AI-powered solutions. This has led to what he calls “technology democratisation,” where companies of all sizes can harness the power of AI to drive innovation and growth.

Ethical Considerations and Risks

While AI offers many benefits, there are risks associated with its use. One of the biggest challenges is the potential for deepfakes and other forms of digital deception. AI can be used to create convincing fake videos and audio, which could be exploited for malicious purposes. It is important to be aware of these risks and taking steps to mitigate them, especially in fields like finance and customer service.

As AI becomes more integrated into business processes, organisations must ensure that their data is secure and that they are using AI ethically and responsibly.

Conclusion

In closing, Filip urged participants to embrace AI and make it a habit in their daily work. He encouraged them to start small, experiment with different tools, and gradually integrate AI into their workflows. By doing so, they will not only improve their own productivity but also help their organisations stay competitive in an increasingly digital world.

As Filip said, “By making AI a habit and focusing on small steps, you’ll discover how it can improve your work, simplify processes, and ultimately help you create better work and more value for the future.”
